In this new trailer, Leon (who still had some strange power) was inside a mansion infested with some strange presence, notably a strong creature with a hook (given the name 'Hookman' in one video). This version presented had different features and a new emphasis on the supernatural that seemed to bring the game closer to Silent Hill. The few words spoken in the trailer were about the Cradle of the Progenitor Virus, and apparently, the story centered on the assault of our heroes to Umbrella Europe. It was stated that the beta for the first build was "too action orientated" and thus it was scrapped. Due to conflicts with the writing staff, Capcom took the assets from the first build of Resident Evil 4 and made it into Devil May Cry. The game was originally slated to be released on the PlayStation 2 in 2001. Resident Evil 4 had a troubled development cycle.
